Oud Wanted - Chicago Area
Anyone in the Chicago area that has an oud for sale? My dad got me a piece of junk from Syria and I'm looking to get something that I can actually
play. Let me know what you have!!!

Might this be of any use? I got it as a Turkish Duduk mouthpiece/reed from an Amazon store.

my budget is around $300 - $400. His ouds are going for $1000....there's no way I can afford that! That's more expensive than the vehicle I'm
currently driving! ha
HOnestly...i'm on the verge of making my own. But I need one soon b/c there's a class starting on the 28th

I've made this recommendation here before, and you might have seen that, but I see you're still looking, and I don't think you can ever do better for
under $499 than the Sukar Model 1 from Palmyrami. It's not a flashy instrument with a fancy look or finish, but it's extremely well-designed, plays
and sounds great. I might not be considered objective as I'm totally in love with mine (but then again I have good reason, and someone knowledgeable
here was kind enough to lead me to that instrument). Do a search on Sukar and ask jkndrkn what he thinks of his, he just got one, and exactly how his
e-bay experience went. Unless you stumble on a lemon, they are all good. Palmyrami ships promptly, and they pack securely, you can have oud in hand
within a week.

I gotta agree with Fernand, you really can't do better than a Sukar oud for the price....

Chris: yeah I'm probably going with what he recommended. I may put it off for a while though b/c I'm focusing on the guitar right now. Not sure if I
want to learn two instruments at the same time. idk we'll see
