Need to widen string peg hole
I am restringing the oud for the first time. It's all gone well, apart from the fact that the hole that you put the string through in the peg for the
11th string [lowest] is just too small. I've tried putting a safety pin in the peg and moving it about, but it makes no difference, and I don't want
to bang a nail through it in case I split the peg. Any ideas of how to make it slightly wider, by 1mm or so?

What about a drill with 1-1.5 mm drill bit ?
There are plenty of cheap drills on ebay, amazon or aliexpress.

Don't bang a nail through it please.
Yes use a drill, that's what makes holes
