Hello,
for those who are thinking about comming to the summeracademy this year, i want to remark, that if you want to get a accomodation place near by the
teaching rooms, you should manage that soon.
Sulzburg is a very nice holiday place in a great wine area. Some impressions from Sulzburg see here. There are many private options to get a room in the city, but the summeracademy is not the only reason people go there.
Also we already have over 10 percussionists and 8 aoud students, and many more told me to come this year.
So my recommendation is: Do not wait too long especially if you are not coming by car.
Best regards

Hello all togather,
I am sure you have followed the discussion about the changings and new developments by Mimmo Peruffo from AQUILA about his aoud string sets. I met him
at the Frankfurt music fair in April and togather with another Aoud player we also discussed and tried there the new red line strings.
I gave to Mimmo also the folder of the summeracademy and he is planning to visit us this year.
I promised to string several instrument with his new developed strings, weather in c or f-tuning.
So we will have the great opportunity to test and discuss there in September his new strings in a really big round of by shure over 20 aoud players.
This will be really interesting!
Best regards and see you in September in Sulzburg

Dear friends,
in another thread "what about the string tension balance?" there is running a discussion about aoud strings, their tension and new developments. One theme of that
discussion where the new red line plain NYLGUT strings by AQUILA. There will now be the chance to meet Mimmo Peruffo from AQUILA at the summeraccademy
this year.
Mimmo is planning to visit us from Saturday (5th ) evening until Sunday ( 6th ). He will of course bring strings with him and also I will string a few
instruments with his new red line.
If anything will change, I will keep you informed here.
Best regards

Hello,
2 weeks and half of the summeracademy is over.
This post here is a bit of of the aoud. As you all have seen that we have a teacher for Violin/Djoze. For those who are interested to participate in
that group, but don't have an instrument, I can tell you that there will be many instruments on loan. Bassem Hawar will have some additional
instruments with him and I have 3 - 5 excellent iranian Komance which are for sale. They can be tried and used for the lectures. They have originally
been owned by iranian university teachers.
Best regards
Matthias
Here some informations about Bassem Hawar, our violin teacher:
Violine & Djoze - Improvisation
Bassem Hawar, Baghdad/Köln

arabic maqams ( scales ) and the arabic music theory. His workshops are aimed to musicians who want to learn the technics of playing and improvising
or have in mind to delve their knowledge. Also classical educated musicians are welcome to learn improvisations or create ornamentations to accompany
students or colleagues.
Biographie
Born in 1972 in Baghdad Bassem Hawar grew up in the very old cultur landscape between the sumerian town Ur and Lagash in the south of Iraq. This
region is the home of many artists and musicians. You also find a lot of musical talents in his family. From 1987-1993 he studied at the Conservatory
in Baghdad to finish with a degree in Djoze, followd by studies of musicology at the Baghdad University.
From 1995-1999 he worked as a djoze teacher at the Baghdad Conservatory, which was foundet by the most famous Iraqi Oud-player Munir Bashir. At the
same time Bassem Hawar was connected to the Instrument Workshop of the Conservatory, researching construction and playing techniques of the djoze. He
had many performances in the Arab world and Europe with the Iraqi Synphonic Orchestra and the ensembles al Bayariq, Babel, Yuri Honing, Lagash,

Tey played a part of their program from the CD "Ahlam Babiliyya" and some more pieces togather with Bassem. It was absolutely great!
