Kurdil i hicazkar : root note?
Hello people!
I want to study some different pieces in this makam and I ask myself this question :
Is the root note Rast or Dugah?
The logic would say Rast (I presume) but it seems to me much easier position on Dugah?
I know that everybody can do whatever he wants ;-) but I want to know what is the usual position
thanks a lot!

Hello,
yes it's on rast (sorry )
On dugah there is a closely related maqam (but slightly different in its seyir), Shehnaz

Shehnaz sounds to me like Hijazkar from dugah.

What is the fingering difficulty in playing Kurdili Hijazkar from Rast? Is it that the open 3rd and 4th courses have to be avoided most of the time?

Many people seem to have difficulty using the 4th finger, I suspect that is the "problem". Smoothly going from the 4th finger on the 4th course to
the 1st finger on the 3rd course gives a lot of people trouble.
