Labib Habib oud
Hi,
I have a 1998 Labib habib oud, and love everything about it.
I was wondering if anyone is familiar with the bracing method used on his ouds, since The sound hole is not accessible for inside inspection and I
don’t want to touch the rosette.

Anyway the maker he may have used different way of bracing along his career..if not sure
I have been successful with a light you put on a rosette in a dark room...beware of the heat. Dont let it long just a quick time to put a mark on the
soundboard you can easily take off after you make the measurement, like using a pencil paper very softly.
You can use also magnets, it works fine. One outside one inside. Advantage it will give you more precision to get the thickness of the braces. Small
neodym magnet can be insert through the rosette.
I know some use tapping technic, but i dont know to do it
If you want more information on brace shape and height maybe you have enough space for an endoscopic camera ? There are some cheap one you can put on
a smartphone. I have a friend who used this successfuly.
