Recommendation for lavta maker in Turkey (Ramazan Calay?)
Hi everyone,
I wanted to ask you for recommendations on a lavta maker from Turkey. I'm already playing a Çankaya/Sandi Oud that I'm happy with, so I'm expecting
the same level or higher, but at the same time, I'm on a budget. I was planning to spend between $550 to $750 (Çankaya fits on this range), but I
also wanted to try a more hand-made instrument from a luthier (since Çankaya is running like a factory as far as I've heard). I was recommended to
try Ramazan Calay which I've been told is inside that range for a lavta. I'm quite inclined to go with him so far. I've received other "top"
recommendations but they also go far beyond the budget.
Do you know any other makers that make good quality lavtas on this price range? Or do you also recommend me to go with Ramazan Calay?
Thank you very much in advance.

Also, Veysel Sarıkuş is in that price range, but I don't have any references for his lavtas.

A bit late, but I heard good things about Kamil Gul lavtas.
Haven't actually tried any myself, and am looking for one in the same price range as well. Did you end up getting a Sandi or something else?
