Two piece fingerboard with back-angled neck

I bought a new arabic oud. The fingerboard is two pieces, one on the actual neck and one piece on the soundboard up to the soundhole. The neck is tilted back slightly off of the body which I was told by the maker is to avoid buzzing. This means there is a slight angle where the fingerboard meets the body. Does this seem odd? Has anyone seen this before? I do not mention the oud maker here to protect his identity but he is a reputable oud maker and the oud I purchased was custom made with quality wood. Please share your thoughts.

It's fairly common for the fingerboard to be in two pieces like this. You didn't post a picture of the neck angle so I can't comment on that. I wouldn't consider it a defect or anything.
