Hi,

I highly recommend the Pure Classic by K&K sound. I use it in my ouds, and it gives a very clear and strong tone. Check out their site at: K&K Sound

Take care,

Hi,

What have you found to be the best pickup location for either single or dual transducers?

Hi,

Each oud is different. Even in a very good oud which is balanced across all strings needs some trial and error (you can use scotch tape until you find the best spots).

With the kind I have, which is 4 transducers, you can experiment, but also there are enough inputs that you can also rely more on the amp/pa system to adjust the overall sound (bass/mid/treble).

With two transducers though, often at the ends of the bridge, generally, are good places to start. With only one, I'd say behind the bridge, probably closer to the treble side. But, like I said, you need to experiment first.

:)

Take care,

K&K Pickup

Hi Mavro,

Do you experience any feedback at high volumes? I am interested in getting an external pick-up for one of my ouds.

Regards

Hi,

There are definitely situations where feedback can occur, but if you couple the pickups with a good preamp and position yourself well in respect to speakers/monitors, these pickups do very well at high volumes. You need to have a good and powerful PA though, or else the oud will not sound natural at high volumes anyway.

Take care,

Thought I'd also indicate thanks to mavrothis for the timely info on this thread - I have a dual pickup that is now working quite satisfactorily by positioning the two transducers in the locations he suggested. What a great site this is! Mark/Kasos
