Arap Saz Semai
Hello again dear oud lovers. After a long break, a new pc and a brand new audio interface, I am back at participating in the forum.
Here is a link to a Semai I recorded last night on my Hadi.
http://sqlvbpro.com/sounds/sounds.htm
Enjoy...
ps. Dincer abi, I too would like a copy of the Nihavend Saz Semai if you aren't exhausted yet
ps2. I intentionally left some rests in the Semai for the purpose of dubbing with another instrument later.
Regards
Udi Mike

Welcome back Mike. I have almost worn out my hard drive playing your beautiful "Memleketim" and I have been looking forward to hearing more from
you.
This is a very nice rendition of Semai al-Thaqil, thanks for sharing.
What sort of audio interface did you get?
Regards,
Greg

Hey Mike,
That was beautiful my man. This is one of my favorite semais. I'm with Greg, and I really enjoyed how you played it too! Keep them coming. Don't
forget to let us here it when you dub in the other tracks.
Here's a recording of the Erkose Ensemble for the same semai preceded by a taqsim that I had on the MP3 page way back when.
Semai Bayati el Thakil
Take care,
Mike

I can't tell you how much I love how you play. The other tracks you posted on the site I downloaded and put on my ipod, so that I can listen to them
all the time. This, too, is another beautiful track. So soulful. Beautiful, subtle touches to your playing. It just really moves me.
Thanks a lot.

Thanks guys, I am glad you liked it.
Greg, I have the M-Audio Mobile Pre USB audio interface.
Mike, thanks for the MP3. Is the oud player one of the Erkose brothers?
I met the violin player Ali Erkose years ago in NYC. I think the year was 1983. He played at a club called Ali Baba in the Village. Those days I was
working at an electronics store in Times Square as a salesman. One day Ali Erkose walked in with his violin case under his arm and a couple of his
musician friends. He was getting ready to go back to Istanbul, and he needed to buy a few gifts for his family. I told him how much I loved his
playing and we talked music while he shopped. He had his eye on this car stereo, but he didn't want to spend the money I was asking for. I think he
was asking me to drop $50.00 from the price. That meant losing all the commission I made so far that day. I said O.K. but I have one condition. Play a
nice long taksim He didn't say another word, he took the violin out and started
playing. My co-workers (mostly Arabs) enjoyed it as well. And I gave him the discount he asked for.
Regards
Udi Mike

That M-Audio device looks good Mike. I went for the Edirol FA-101 Firewire, because I had dreams of multitracking several musicians at the one
sitting. In reality, one like yours would have been perfect for my needs.
I look forward to hearing much more of your beautiful music.
Regards,
Greg

I'm pretty sure this is Selahaddin Erkose on oud. I have this album somewhere, I will try to check it.
