Anyone going to NAMM in LA?

I was just wondering if any of you guys will be at NAMM in January. It would be great to meet some of the people from the forum. I'm not sure how many oud makers will be there but I assume there will be several.

Jason, do you have any details on this? I have never been to one before, but would like to go.

Hey guys it is in Anaheim, my mistake. It is January 19-22. I am going with my college... I'm majoring in music merchandising. Here is the official website

http://www.thenammshow.com

I'm hoping to atleast find some Shehata ouds to try out. I plan on figuring out what I want to buy when my tax returns come in hehe

I am considering coming over to attend NAMM, but I am a bit disappointed by the hefty registration fee (US$200). Over the years, I have attended broadcast equipment exhibitions in places like Sydney, Amsterdam, Hannover, Singapore, Mumbai and several times in Las Vegas, but have never had to pay more than a token registration fee.

I guess NAMM has more of a retail focus and the organizers want to make big money at both ends - from the exhibitors AND the buyers.

My .02c worth.

Regards,

Greg

As Greg mentioned, NAMM is very expensive to go to. I could be wrong but I also thatought that you had to be affiliated with a dealer, music store, etc. and could not just be someone off the street. It is a great place to see new equipment though!!
