top nut width
I was looking at the oud on the back cover of Mutlu Torun's Method book and i noticed that the width of the neck at the nut is much wider than I've
seen. Are there more Ouds out there like this? It seems beneficial for playing solo oud. I can barely keep my fingers from buzzing the next string on
my oud. If I was to build an oud I would certainly consider that width.
I'll try to scan the picture tomorrow for those who don't have the book.

I have the same problem with my turk oud.
I think some iraqui ouds have a wider nut: http://www.mikeouds.com/messageboard/viewthread.php?tid=2577

Width of the nut normally should not be less then 35mm. Manol mostly used 36-37mm nuts. For professional modern ouds usually have 38-40mm.
It also is important how the strings laid out on the nut and how close the double strings to each other.
