floating or not ???

hello
I'm about to purchase my first oud and i'm having some hard time deciding wheter to have a floating bridge or not .
does it sounds different .?

does someone knows what kind of wood transmits the best sound (for the bridge ) ?
is it true about dense wood that it is not good
for the bridge.?

thank you all.

From what I understand,

floating is louder and some say that it will be more stable in the long run because there is pressure pushing down on the sound board rather than pulling.

I believe it is expected on stable bridges that the sound board will eventually buckle in most ouds at least once.

for me, I had wondered this question because my teacher is very traditional and to him anything other than a traditional fixed bridge oud is just for looks, so he does not teach me to utilize the advantages of a floating bridge oud.

those advantages are the ability to withstand higher tuning because it can take more pressure and if you are a loud player, like marcel khalife for example you can really exert tone.

so for me I think the question is what style do I want to play,

a) do I want to play modern expiremental style like marcel khalife or play high sclaes like munir bashir

b) or do I want to play traditional classical arabic music and stay with in a simple range.

If I am wrong, please correct me anyone

I have an acoustic guitar with floating bridge and I can say that it has been a source of problems: undesired harmonics in the part of string between the bridge and the tail, and small noises if the string does not fit perfectly in their notch of the bridge (sometimes I must put a small piece of paper underneath the string, making lose it brilliance).

The floating bridge not only allows you to give more tension to the strings but that forces to do it: if you use a very low tuning, and plays with certain intensity, the string can leave their lodging in the bridge.

This is my experience, I do not know if applicable entirely to the oud.
