Strings dogal

I use strings Dogal, italian producer fm Venice
http://www.dogalstrings.it (nothing on 'oud on their web).

Strings are delivered in envelopes made on paper fabricated fm algae fm venician channels, it keeps humidity away...

I think they are new to this market.

Does anybody else use dogal as well? (Hope i am not the only oud player using strings dogal among the hundreds of thousands of 'oud players in the world. By the way, how many oud players exists presently, and how many 'ouds exists nowadays ??)

As i can not compare with other strings the only thing i can say is that they have not made bloden my fingers yet.
I hope it is not a bad sign for a new learner like me.
Usually learners bleed fm fingers, isn't it ??

Hi Zalzal,
I have to add a comment about the D'Addario strings.
I ordered a Turkish set from Ebay. When I installed them in my oud, the buzzing became really bad and annoying.
I am going to replace them with either LaBella or Acquila.
Well, maybe I should try the Acquila this time.
Best Regards and Merry Christmas,
Hatem

D'addario is a different company fm Dogal. D'addario is based in Salle on the Adriatic coast (same level as Rome) and Dogal is in Venice, 600 km north of Salle.

With dogal I have had no buzzing since i changed the previous strings, austrian thomastik which were often breaking. Dogal are still alive and kicking in my oud.

For what i know they do not have oud sets yet...maybe they start now the production?
by the way Dogal is a famous and important string company...i don't think they are so new in the market....
by the way i still prefer Aquila...another level....in italy they are on top for really quality strings....and your finger won't bleed and won't became green!!:-)

In fact what i meant by new to this market was to the oud market.
It is true that they were testing oud strings when i got a set. But since then i think they have finished tests and they sell them now.

For example here is a link to a string dealer proposing Dogal oud strings
http://www.ilpreterosso.com/oud_11_cordes_nylon_pvf_en_do.htm

Wit Dogal, my fingers become grey....hope it is same for other learners

Thanks for the link!!,strange that nothing on oud still appears on their website...is it the set coming with standard nylon strings?and what about the wound?...apart the grey on your fingers!??;-)
I hope i can test them but, since i discovered that all the main strings makers use the same materials made form tha same producer for everyone, i become not very enthusiatic in front of the growing new string offer.... i found only Aquila producing something different...

I do not know much on strings. I believe Dogal made them with standard materials also. I receivd first set with middle D in nylon (my tuning is fm down up C G D A G D)in spite of D being usually made by other strings makers on rolled fiber.
But with the second set which i received fm Dogal, the middle D was made with rolled fibre (i think there was a problem with tension in the first D test string).

I also believe that dogal are still hand-making strings, or part of them, avoiding industrialized production, but i am not sure of this. If true that would make the difference with other industrial producers.

It seems also that rolled fibre is in fact silver fibre. And that is why my fingers become grey, but i am not sure either, whether rolled strings are made with silver fibre or other artificial fibre.

For the wounding i was joking more or less. I thought that to be a good player you must make bleed yr fingers fm playing a lot. And it was not my case, so i was bad learning because i have not still see the blood...

Anyhow, the touching of dogal is, for me, more soft and pleasant than with first set of thomastik.

On the sound i can say little as i am learner and can only compare with thomastik which lived in my oud only few month and i changed quickly to Dogal.
Just i feel, with dogal a less metallic sound and deeper and longer than with thomastik.
