It sounds like a vihuela. It’s a shame to put frets on an oud because it loses its expressiveness.

That looks like a mandolin and kind of sounds like one, but it is a beautiful sound like none other.

When you tie frets to oud,it will lose it's rich notes as my opinion.It will be a different instrument.

Well, oud is the predecessor of the lute. Here is a sound sample of finger picking. Bit hard to do chords on a narrow neck. If someone wants affordable lute and likes the sound then, perhaps, Mr. Azar could make fretted oud-lute with wider neck?
