Question about a guitar recital
Hey guys,
I know, I know... "oud website." Just a quick question. A few months back, there was this Parkening guitar competition over at Pepperdine University
in CA, and a young man from Spain named Pablo Sainz Villegas won after playing his rendition of the Concierto de Aranjuez by Joaquin Rodrigo. I heard
it on the radio on the Sunday that the contest was taking place, but haven't heard it since. I know there are some guitar buffs in here, so I thought
I'd give it a shot and see if anyone has that recording. Anyone?

I have a couple of recordings of the Concierto de Aranjuez with different artists but not this particular one - If he was playing solo then it was
probably only the 2nd movement. I have a very nice recording of the Orquesta De Cadaques & Paco De Lucía – Paco is a famous flamenco guitarist,
not normally known for classical music. He learned the entire piece by ear! His version is the most Spanish/Andalusian sounding version I've heard -
really fantastic!
You can buy this recording on iTunes!

Hey Lee,
Thanks for the quick reply. It was actually the three movements:

I'm well aware of Paco's abilities, though I haven't heard this particular composition played by him.
It's also my understanding that Rodrigo specifically got Pepe Romero (the brother of the above posted Angel Romero [though I'm quite sure you're aware
of this, Lee]) to play some of his compositions. Pepe is an awesome guitarist, for those who don't know; first made an impact on me when I was
watching this thing on cable at night called Showcase of the Arts or something to that effect.
The thing with this competition was that the 3 finalists each had a full orchestra behind them, and it was really interesting to hear the artists back
to back (to back).
Anyway, if anyone has it, please let me know.

P.S. Lee, I have yet to hear you play guitar, my friend.
