I want to buy the my first oud. Recommendations?
I'm guitarplayer, and I like arabian-jazz music - Anouar Brahem, Rabi Abu-Khalil... I'm like a oud sound.
I want to buy not expensive oud. I find some ouds on Ebay ~ 200$ :
1. AHMED ABDUL HALIM Egyptian OUD
2. Syrian Halabi OUD
3. OUD EGYPTIAN Lute Standard w/ CASE, CHART & CD
Most of all to me to like №1, but the seller don't want to answer my questions. =(

Do not buy any of these cheap ebay ouds. They are wall ornaments, not musical instruments. They cannot be tuned or played and your money will be
wasted. The best deal going is the student model oud from Haluk.

I have a new Oud from Haluk that I am selling...
it's brand new and cheaper buying from me as opposed to Haluk if you live in the US.

Two things I can reccomend:
If you know anyone who plays Oud, get that person to check out the Ouds with you. They will have more intimacy with the sound quality and will be able
to decide on the instruments with much more of a professional opinion than you can at the moment.
Second, don't buy a cheap 'beginner' Oud. I know it sounds tempting, but it's better to buy something that will live with you and give you quality
sound. Otherwise, playing with second hand equipment will take away from your hearing expierence, and thereby diminish part of your ability of being
able to be familar with the sounds of the Oud.
Disregard my second suggestion if you are strapped for cash(which I think you said you were) or know you're not going to keep your first Oud for the
rest of your playing career.

I recently purchased an oud from Mr. Eraydin, here are some photos.
I recently purchased an oud from Mr. Eraydin, here are some photos. Beautiful instrument! I have been very fortunate in that my friend Amos has been
generous and taught me the fundamentals, and has shown me some exercises, so I'm on the way..... You can be sure that you will get an excellent
beginner oud with Haluks instruments.
