Udi Rahmi Bey

Hi guys,

Does anyone have any recordings of Rahmi Bey? He was a great composer and ud player from a while back.

If anyone has recordings, especially with taksim, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks,

mav

ps-one of his albums/compilations has the title "Manolia."

Hey Mav,

hmmm where have you heard of the recording? I see from a bio of his that he died in 1924, so just in time to have been recorded. cool i'm curious now too.

All i have in my collection is 3 tracks of his sarkilar, 1 Zeki Müren, 1 Safiya Ayla, 1 song from a Kemal Gürses Isfahan Fasil. Have you the fasil?

see you sooooooon!

Hey Adam,

I was at Haig's yesterday getting some strings (trying out his D'addario sets with rectified nylons) and he said I needed to absolutely listen to him.

He didn't have any recordings lying around, but said that his style is very unique - sounds simple but hard to duplicate.

I'd love to hear him...apparently there are only two of his taksims recorded.

See ya!

Hi Mav,

I have a couple of recordings of him that Joe Zeytoonian sent me, they're somewhere in my cassette collection. I'll have some time off after Christmas, so I'll see if I can dig em out, digitize em, and send them along. I have some other stuff I've promised to folks too, so Rahmi will have to be the last thing I do.

Regards..PaulO

Thanks my friend, I followed your link and found nice sheet music to check out.

I think there's the possibility that there are two Rahmi Beys, one maybe significantly older than Udi Rahmi Bey.

Take care,

mavrothis
