Ouds In Bostons

There is the famous:
PETER KYVELOS & CHRISTOS PANTAZELOS
"Unique Strings" in Belmont, MA (outside of Boston)
Tel: (617) 489-1254

I live outside Boston, but, to tell the truth I just assumed I wouldn't be able to afford an instrument from Kyvelos so I am having one made by Maurice Shehata in Cairo.

BTW, Kareem Roustom has a workshop at Passimon the two next Sundays as well as an extention course at NEC if you aren't already aware of them.

Thank you all for the information. I also unfortunately cannot afford to buy an oud from Kyvelos, but I will look into Shehata. I am just starting to play the oud, and therefore I am not looking for a professional grade oud at this time. A student grade would be just fine. Any further suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Kindly,
zinnia

Hi

Hi Zul, just letting you know we've met with Mr. Shehata a few times. He's really a great guy, and his ouds are a great combination of attractive looks and rich, strong sound. I'm excited about them.

We told him about you, and like we thought, he's made many for Abadi Johar so he would need a specific instrument reference. You should do that yourself to be right on with what you want.

He's a very cool guy, spending time with him was another great highlight of this trip.

Take care,

mav
