Oud video

I know these are just a couple of folk melodies, but I love them. Have these guys recorded a cd? Who is the oud player? In my mind, I always attribute this version of tamzara to Ara Dinkjian, because that is the first person that I heard play it like this.

They have a website, and cds, but the samples from the website seem a little more pop than the youtube video
http://www.hellenicmusic.net.

Wish I could find their versions of these 2 songs on one of their cds

Hey Jonathan,

They are definitely playing Ara's version. It's very addictive. :)

Looks like they are a good quality Greek cover band, though maybe they do originals too, I didn't look that closely.

Thanks for the link,

mavrothis

Thanks buddy, I hope you are doing well. It's a great song and arrangement isn't it? Ara Dinkjian is just an amazing player and all around guy.

Take care,

mavrothis

Thanks. Yeah, maran. I thought the same--Mav's off-the-cuff version was just as good as Ara's, and I love the way Ara plays that melody.
I've heard a bunch of different versions of that song, but in my head, that version is "Ara's version". Not sure if he is the one who came up with it or not, but I am guessing that he did.
