turkish oud
Hi everyone,
I am a newbie to oud-instruments, and I would like to buy an second hand instrument. I found one, and I would like to know if it's a good choise. It's
a turkish one made by Biçicioglu (izmir). What is a reasonable price to pay for it? What do you think about the quality of the instrument?
thank you, and greetz from holland

Hi,
Bicicioglu makes nice sounding ouds - and especially if it is an older one, I'd say if you like the sound and playability, you should go for it. I
think the soundboards tend to be thin, so just be careful and don't keep it in very low or very high humidity.
Don't know what price to recommend, but try to get the best price you can. His work these days is not as clean, but they are still good sounding
ouds. So like I said, if it is an older Bicicioglu, you should give it some serious thought.
Take care,
mavrothis

Hi jobbezz
I also have one of Bicicioglu. It really sound good for ten years. Than I had to replace the sound board. As Mavrothis said she had a thin sound board
but a clean job. I think this oud is an older one and shows the typical properties of Bicicoglu ouds. Look for any collapse on the face near the
bridge. If she is in good condition I advice you to give a serious thought. Do not think about the price if you like it.

Hi, thanks for the information about this instrument. I'll try to contact the owner for some more information. He sells the instrument as an Arabic
one, but i guess that it's an turkish one.
