Replacement nut for an Oud...
I just picked up an Oud, but the nut is broken and I need to replace it, where can I find a replacement nut. As a side note, any recommendations for
a site for strings? It is missing 3 strings as well (it's an inexpensive 'starter' I picked up used). I have experience building instruments, so
replacing the nut myself is no big deal....
Thanks....

For materials, luthier supply houses in the USA like Stewart MacDonald at http://www.stewmac.com or Luthiers Mercantile at http://www.lmii.com. stock most requirements.

I had a try at replacing a nut first. I got a blank bone nut from a guitar shop (Most ones would have it.) Within th link there's advice on the
relevant measurements.
Interestingly enough, last time I was at a guitar shop they said I should try some other white synthetic material (forgot the name). They said it
would to give a better sound.
