guitar player, just bought oud, help
well, as the title says...
i've been on the electric guitar for over 3 years, so in when it comes to technique or using the oud itself its a piece of cake. also i'm
egyptian with very strong feelings towards arabic music (and farid's ta2aseem), so making the music really isn't much of an issue either (at
least for the moment). i have two problems which i need help with.
1) the guitar doesn't have any quarter notes, which the oud has. since i never had any experience with quarter notes, i can't seem to get
to use them at all (cuz i don't know how to use them or what on earth to do with them and in what way). i hope somebody can help with this.
and 2) i need a good site with lessons or something of that sort since i would like to keep myself self-taught. something to help a beginner like
myself from picking to scales and all thats inbetween. any help with that?
thanks in advance.

Welcome.
Here are two links that will pretty much get you going:
http://www.maqamworld.com
And some instructional videos from Mike's:
http://www.mikeouds.com/video/learn.html
Hope this helps.

Oud Instruction
There's always Mavrothis' site:
http://www.oudcafe.com/oud_basics.htm
He has basic instruction on the above page. The focus is mainly on Turkish style oud but there is a lot of valuable info on the site, as well as music
scores and fairly complete discussion of the various makam that have been presented on his site so far.
