Oud Market Forum : Book Reviews ?

That's just a suggestion, but what about a Book Reviews in the Oud Market Forum ?

We already have infos in the Ouds, Ouds, Ouds forum but it's a bit messy and such a topic could easily ask a whole clear forum.

Good idea, but I would expect such a thread as a sticky thread in the Tips & Advice forum, as the FAQ thread too.

What do you think?

I think this is more important than this. we need a forum beside Oud Market for books. books are really important.

I think a forum where members give their opinions about books from Al-Kindi's treatises to nowadays books and methods would be really interesting, whatever the place in Mike's Oud Forums... Books are not really on the fore but I use so much Marcus Scott Lloyd thesis that I'd like to discuss about it and find some other works. On the General Oud Forum infos are spread everywhere and we've got to dig to bring them back. I don't know if it's a big task for the administrators ?

What do you mean about the FAQ, Chris ?

I think there aren't so many oud books on the market, that we need a special books forum. I wouldn't expect so much books threads to fit an own forum.

Don't you think so?

Well, if someone is new to the forums, he/she might search for a FAQ first and it will be helpful to find a books thread at the same place. The FAQ thread is sticked to the top of the Tips forum and that's exactly the place, where I myself would search first for a FAQ or book recommendations. So I think a sticked books thread would be placed fine in the same place.

Ok.

A further thought ... maybe Mike should turn the CD Reviews forum into a Media Discussion forum for CDs, DVDs and Books?

Yes, I'm waiting for more comments from users in order to send the link of this topic. With only 3 persons agree I don't think this "new" forum will be approved...

So if you agree just write it, we would be able to create a topic for each book with links, practical examples and discussions, some of these books could easily need a whole life to be commented ! Some could translate passages for the others (French, German, Turkish, Arab...). Many perspectives to keep and build the Arab Music Theory through its multicultural essence and its intrinsic versatility -> Sounds like a political speech :D ;)

Why not, when he is convinced himself. All he has to do is change the forum title from "CD Reviews" in "Media Reviews" or "CD & Book Reviews".

I bet he'll do it.

The forum description below the title should be changed too, don't you think so.

It's still:

Write reviews and provide purchasing information for CDs in this forum.

... the "and books" is missing ;)
