First Oud
My first real oud arrived today from Haluk Eraydin and im trying to tune it. The tension from the strings pulls the tuning pegs so that they go out of
tune.
Is it OK to push the pegs further into the pegbox to keep them from slipping?
Also I am having problems getting the strings up to key, it seems as though they could break if I bring them up to the note they should be at...
I'm sure this is because I don't know what im doing, but i dont want to break any strings..
help please thank you

You can push the pegs, make sure the string windigngs do not end up pushing against the walls of peg box as they wrap around the peg.
If you are using the correct gauge of strings for your tuning then the strings should not break unless the are binding in the grooves of the nut.
