Abdo George Nahat oud for sell
Hello,
I'm selling my oud due to some serious osteoarthritis.
I can't play more than a few minutes a day, so it's time for someone else to get the baby.
I had it for almost 20 years now, the neck was reattached to the body by Wolfgang Fruh from Le point d'accroche about 10 years ago.
My friend Iyad Haymour supposed it could be from around 1920 as there's no date on it.
The dims of the body are 51,5 x 35,5cm so i'ts quite a small baby.
The lenght of the strings is 64cm.
When i bought it there was a second pick gard in front of the original, i prefered to take off that second one, so as you can see on the pics it's a
bit used in that area.
The design in the sound holes are made from ebony.
I sell the custom hardcase with it.

I 've never been a real oud player, so it could shine some other hands.And my shoulder makes me very difficult to play.
I'm asking 5000 euros.

Those strings are a meter off the fingerboard! You should get Wolfgang to re-reattach the neck, as he doesn't seem to have done a proper job the
first time.
If those are aquila strings (they look like it) you should take them off before they cause any more damage to this beautiful instrument. Those are
too high tension for an antique 64cm oud.

The neck is not moving any more, the action is way lower than it was before.
I chosed the strings with Wolfgang, and the neck hadn't moved at all since he worked on it.
Anyway, thanks to take care...

That action is preposterous, and I cannot believe an accomplished luthier would set a neck like that. You may be unintentionally harming Mr. Fruh's
reputation if you say that that's what he did.
It's a beautiful instrument (great sound, and nice playing), but for 5000 Euros I would expect that the buyer wouldn't immediately have to go get the
neck reset.
Well, at least the photos are a good representation and anyone can make up his own mind before they buy.

Sorry to hear of your osteoarthritis, I enjoyed your youtube clip ... lovely sound and playing (especially for a non-oud player). Just wanted to back
up not over tensioning this beauty as it could well be a classic and the scale length is long.

I would like to thank all the people here who've been very kind with me.
After 3 weeks playing every day i decided not to sell my oud anymore.
Slowly my shoulder is getting better, so i can hope to play again seriously.
That a very important period in my life because i decided to stop my wall decorator buisness and to go back to my first love after a 10 years stop.
I know the road is long again but i feel confident.
I would be happy to send you some fresh musical news of the Nahat in a few weeks/months as soon it will be something acceptable for my ears.
And a special thank to Adel Salameh for his call.

Good for you Franck - may I suggest you look for a good yoga teacher - it will help you rehabilitate your shoulder and more generally your posture if
it has suffered from work.

Beware my friends : Before offering an oud for sale, one should have reached a full free final decision to sell the oud permanently, otherwise
accepting the offer by anyone shall establish a binding contract, which can be enforced in a court of law.
I'm happy, though, Frank decided to keep the oud. This who kept an active oud unharmed for 20 years is absolutely entitled to maintain this for the
rest of his life, may he lives a long healthy life. However it is recommended after 10 years or so that Wolfgang or any other authorized luthier take
a look and make some minor maintenance works on this masterpiece.
