Saad Al-Tayyar made some of his ouds like this.
This type of "fluted" ribs however have been found on lutes of the medieval times

Yes, he is the oldest son of Foad Jihad and they specilize mainly in floating bidge ouds

ive heard many good things about foad jihad, fares jihad and laith jihad from my friend moaana jihad(the oud player in munir bashir band in iraq, not
related to foad jihad family) but honestly, i didnt know ala jihad. he should be pro anyway, and the oud looks nice.
