can anyone show me and simple songs or melodies
Hey all, my teacher is sicj again and im looin for some creative ways to learn. I enjoy playing traditional arabic songs. ANyone have any simple
ones they can show me? preferably in nahwand or ajam if you can. thanks

lets see, the one which really intrigues me is "telat ya mahlah nourha" which I beleive is composed by sayed darwish and commonly sung by
fairouz.

Hey palestine,
Jameel started a post a couple of months ago where he posted a taqassim and we all tried to learn it. We never finished the taqassim but we got
about a minute into it. Anyways here is the link. He slowed it done to make it easy to play. This should give you something nice to play once you
figure it out. Also, make sure you participate in the maqam of the month post when it comes back around. You learn a lot from there.

Do you want me to play Samra ya samra (in a slow style) or will you be able to pick it up at normal tempo?
I can do both brother.

I think slow would help me better but i would like both if it is not too much trouble.
Is it possible to spell out the notes used or maybe it would be better if i figured that out on my own?
Revaldo's idea is great but i didnt go far with Jameels taksim because I have not reached rast yet. I am still focusing on maqam's with
whole and half steps. Once I perfect that I will move to microtonal maqams. Thanks for the great advice and help.

I just recorded two versions Slow/Fast. They are from memory but they are accurate enough.
I hope they will get you going.

I am always happy to help.
I tune my oud to FADgc.
I played the song with the first note B.
I would not worry what maqam the song is played from just yet. Simply because most song can be copied and played on any scale to the comfort of the
singer.
Try to start it from the note E. for example. That will get you pinky working .. try it.

I actuallty tune mine CEADGC I used to do the FADGCF tunning but i found that this octave was more comfortable and consistent with fellow oud players

If you tune your oud to CEADGC then you are in a simmillar tune to mine starting from the ADgc. Playing samra ya samra from the note C you will make
it not only diffecult to play but also uneasy to add decorating notes to it. Playing it from E is better than C but from B is the easiest.
when are you going to post your version ?
come on .. I can not wait .. I know you can do it ....  in advance.
