Come bello!

This is a beautiful looking oud - and a touch of things Italian always goes down well ;). I especially like what is looking like a wide(r) fingerboard. To me this is looking as fine as something from Yaroub's workshop. Can't wait to hear it....

bridge wood

I use a very old piece of rosewood, but I not sure is the right wood. Probably is better a lighter wood as walnut. Today I have played for the first time, the sound in my opinion is very good, powerfull and rich.
Sincerely Maurizio

ready for finishing

For finishing we are going to use a waterbase finish from Luthiers Mercantile International, a web shop I've found in link page of Jameel site.
Thank you Jameel for the information you share with us.
Sincerely Maurizio

the first concert with the floating bridge

When the oud is not completely finish I made a concert with it. I have played in cultural centre for traditional popular misic named "Circolo Gianni Bosio" in Rome with my friends Massimo Nardi -a very good guitarist-. Massimo played with a little amplification and me totally acoustic. I fell this oud powerfull and bright.

hello Maurizio,

thanks for the sound clip. It sounds interesting. but in my ears the guitar is a bit dominating. So my question is, if you can upload some time a solo piece. That would be very fine.

By the way, if you want to listen to my floating bridge oud, you will find it on my website. It's made after the instrument Naseer Shamma actually plays. I have measured his instrument some time ago and made meanwhile a "copy" of it. You will find the link here:

Best regards
Matthias

This peace is called "vicoli" and is one of mine compositions and if you want to download go to http://file.webalice.it and insert "mauriziolazzaro" as username and "public" as password. The file is big 2,9MB.
sincerely Maurizio

finally a sound file

My friend Agostino has been busy all week long and the soundbord warnish is not complete but I recorded something for you to listen the sound of my new oud.
I recorded with a good condenser microphone without effect, compression and equalization.
Please forgive me for my european music stile.
sincerely Maurizio
