dear josh -

i don't mean to suggest that luthiers aren't worth their weight in gold - they are. i just feel that there's a bit of "money machissmo" in the promotion and sale of ouds. if the goal is being able to make music and play an oud properly with some degree of satisfaction all around, that can be realized without spending heaps of dosh and without withering in shame for owning a "cheap" egyptian import. taking up your car metaphor (in the words of bob dylan...) "i don't need a sports car to drive around the block."
