Hey Awad
Those ouds have nicked our seats, they didn't need us udis and decided to go solo good luck to them I say
Thanks all of you for turning up and for a brilliant day and evening it was a real pleasure and also great fun. I know Awad has loads of footage so
he has promised to edit a little)
I really enjoyed seeing Owain, wonderful loose, raw and instinctive talent (in the best possible use of the term). I really enjoyed meeting Usta
Michael Moussa, to see his wonderful ouds, hear how and why he makes them in this way and just to see the maker in a room full of his ouds was really
moving.
I really enjoyed your playing Charlie, we were chatting about you later and singing your praises.
Too much to write and have missed out a lot but we HAVE to meet again now we have got to know each other a bit. Maybe we could agree on a song to
learn and also bring one of our own along. It would be great to get feedback.
Smile and say 'OOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUD'

Hey Leon, thanks for the kind words. I really enjoyed meeting Michael too, he's a really great guy and Oud player.
I like your idea to all learn a new song, I can't get myself to fully learn a song, but if everyone else was doing it I would!

You promised everyone that you would edit our playing to make us all sound better. Keep the video but just play Sunbati or someone over the top.
Just kidding!! You were all amazing players, and I really learned a lot just by watching.

Owain is right, now we have met future meetings would really encourage us to develop a bit of a repetoire which I would certainly appreciate - I'd
learn loads of stuff if I had these tangible goals.

Hi Leon, Glad you got back ok and thanks for your comments.
Anyone want to have a go at getting a list together?
I think one tune would have to be Nahwand Lunga its a good tune and there are different styles and approaches to it. and if Owain has got a Sunbati
tune.....or a song by Fairuz or Wahab.
Thanks Awad for all your hard work with the pictur3es and sound.

coming together like this and enjoying each others company is so cool. I only wish I could have joined you! I'm at work now, but I can't wait to get
home and check out this thread in more detail when I get home later today.

Next time we all get together, I'll bring a Darbuka (don't have one but plan on buying one). Or sombody else could, either way, we could really get
the atmosphere going with a bit of Oud and Darbuka, and Kelly, maybe you could do a bit on Violin/Kamanjah.
I bet that would be really nice.

Thanks Leon, Ive been so inspired since the meet, hearing you all has helped so much and blondie was cool and suited your style !!!.( for those not
present, blondie is a fine turkish oud and not some foxy chic that Leon brought along). Thanks to Jameel, Oud prof and of course Mike for joining in
this thread, you've all played a part for me, Jameel("The" string supplier who knows what he's talking about), Oud prof(DVD and outstanding sound
clips) and Mike, well what can I say mate?, Its common knowledge you have brought so much pleasure to so many. Michael and Awad demonstrated (
though they are probably unaware of this) the ethnic way of playing the oud, soulful and moving. Hey Owain, how's the Shehata?, reckon you'll be the
first Brit to take the oud to dizzy hieghts, you've a hot line to something mate, incredible you've only been playing a short time. Glad you liked my
Sukar Awad, the range of sounds at the meet gave us all some perspective on oud sound and fine sounds they were. Better sign off for now, I could go
on for ever. Charlie.
