Faruk Usta.... now that we have your attention, I have had one question in my mind for a long time since I was a guest at your workshop. . . why
don't you put a slight 'radius' into your soundboards??
I am guessing that the reason is that you have a special system (and an incredible machine!) for trimming the edges of the bowl which in effect serve
a similar function as a radius, but still I am curious what your thinking is on this - since it is something we never discussed together....

As far as my undeerstanding goes, a slight radius in the SB is an excellent guarantee against SB cracking due to humidity changes... I had two ouds
by Belhaiba (Casablanca) which just cracked like crazy in the SB... and I don't know any other luthier's who put in SB radius... But I never heard
of any of your SBs cracking - or actually I never heard of any Turkish ouds SBs cracking at all... I wonder why this is true, but Belhaiba's
cracked so badly??

Eddi, thank you for your question. The crack on the SB is usually occurs due to the unaged state of the wood. As we have Spruce forests in the western
part of Black See region to find Spruce wood is not a big issue (you know this and our spruce stock) wheras it is a problem in most Arab countries and
Moroc. We have the chance to purchase logs and keep them in stock to get dry well. Well dried spruce does not progress cracks.

Also, I guess that these days much wood is dried by quick artificial means - and I guess this renders most commercially available woods vulnerable to
cracking?

For minimal buzzing, what would the string height be at the neck joint approximately?

Hi all! This is my first post on Mike's Oud Forums, but I've been reading the boards here off and on over the past year or so. I'd been keeping an eye
out to purchase my first oud (I'd been borrowing one before, for the last year or so), and when I saw this post I was delighted.
So....I bought one of these ouds in Arab tuning from Mr. Turunz! It just arrived last week and is a beautiful instrument. I'm still adapting to the
difference in size compared to the Egyptian oud I'd been using, but I love the sound and the look. I was worried that because I wasn't spending a
fortune I'd risk ending up with a poor quality instrument, but this is made beautifully. It's a great deal, and Mr. Turunz responded promptly to my
emails and was very helpful in following up on my shipment when it ended up temporarily held in U.S. customs. For anyone else on a budget but who
doesn't want that to keep them from getting a good quality oud, this is definitely a great way to go!
Look forward to hearing what others have to say about their experiences, and to seeing the new wood options, too. But now's the time for me to go make
some music!!!

Hi all!
We are preparing some 20 ouds as the continuation of the "Reduced Price Point Ouds".
All the specifications are the same with the previous batch except the wood combination.
This batch of ouds will be made of Mahogany & Padouk. More beautifull and attractive than the previous batch.
Please email me to book your orders. This is important for organizing the brace tuning for either Turkish or Arabic sound.
