hi, wazza. Thanks very much for all the new episodes.
about hemenpaylas: it was fast with the previous episodes
you uploaded to that host but with the new '08-ajam' episode,
the dl speed is strangely slow...real slow.
hope you'll be able to ul it again to rapidshare or some other
fast reliable host, if it's not too much trouble.

Hey everyone,
Unfortunately, I've run into this post a bit late. I've always been thoroughly annoyed by rapidshare, but I'll try to make my way around it for this
post (always preferred uploading.com... no wait, and somewhat faster downloads).
I wanted to ask if anyone here has the Samai Huzzam by Yusuf Pasha. If so, can anyone post it? I'd be very grateful.

There's something I don't get : on page 2 of the old samai collection thread you gave us : http://rapidshare.de/files/34797837/09-Kordi.rar, and now on this page there is : http://rapidshare.de/files/35771584/09-Kordi.rar. I'm a bit confused ! Which is which ? (I've not had time to listen to either one of them yet.)
Maybe the first one is Hijaz Kar and the second is Kurdi. Am I right ?

the link posted before has been disabled so I reuploaded the file to renew the link OK.
the content is the same so if you downloaded the episode from the old link you don't need to download from the new one but if not the new link is
valid while the old is not.

Thanks Wazza, but "kordi" is just another way of saying "kurdi", right ?
I really love these different ways of spelling, confusing as they might appear sometimes. They're just like in the old days in Europe. For example I
have the facsimile of a French guitar book of the late 17th century, in which the word guitar is spelled "guitarre" and "guittare."
Even in present-day Spain, placenames are spelled in many different ways, sometimes only just a few miles apart.
And when I went scouting around the Marrakesh Soukh a few years ago looking for an oud, and found one and asked how it was tuned, the salesman
laconically answered me "all depends on what you're playing brother !"
Standardization may be practical, but boy, it can be so boring.

I missed the saba part with rapidshare (and i like a lot the taste of saba maqam, something in between, a transition...) .
The previous Benjamin post is increasing even more the need to have it and listen to it.
Can anyone update ??

I hadn't taken time off to listen to the Samai collection, but I can only hear four of them properly : hussaini samai, sama'i el aryan, samai
farahfaza and rast-tatyos. All the others are completely inaudible, I can only distinguish at first a hissing sound, then vague noises which could
resemble music heard a mile away, broadcast from a portable telephone wrapped up in several layers of cotton wool and tin foil. Has this happened to
anyone else ?

the samaiis are perfectly audible in my PC, although I have recorded them from a magnetic tape, the quality is fair.
