Is this a decent oud to buy
I am new to the oud world. My good buddy from Kansas got me really interested in the oud. I found one for sale at http://www.vintagefret.com. Could anyone tell me if this is a good oud to purchase. THe price seems very low for the details.
The pictures are at http://vintagefret.com/pages/6315.html.
Thanks
Cristo

Hi Christo
Welcome to the board and to the club of oudplayers
It is just an "tourist" oud and in my opionion it looks nice but just for the wall as a decoration
you will not be pleased with it when you want it as an musical intrument becouse of the terrible pegs, nut and
neck....
good luck

I would agre completely with Mourad. The pegs on these instruments are awful, they are quickly and porly built, and there is so much decorative inlay,
that there is esentialy no expanse of soundboard to comunicate the tone. Stay away from these overpriced decorative non-ouds!

Hey Cristo,
Look at this older thread. Notice the oud hanging on the wall behind me?
Take care,
Mike
