What is the common tuning for 5 courses
for an oud. There are four pairs and a single bass string.
Thanks

Try F, A, d, g, c -or- G, A, d, g, c - they are the most common, then E, A, d, g, c (common in Sudanese oud music) but for standard oud strings F, A, d, g, c is probably your best option as far as balanced tension goes.
