Hello Rojaros.

Nice particular and coloured sound, especially in the middle strings .Can you tell us about the power and projection with this set ?
And happy to read you again here!

Hi Francis, thanks for the welcome ...

The power of these strings is not particularily big, and it's difficult to tell about projection, I'd have to sit in front of myself further away. :)

But the oud that I used here is also not particularily loud or bright, it's more like one of the old school type of arab oud.

Fortunately volume is not so all important if you're not playing in front of big audiences, and finally the sound is what is most rewarding.

As to the plain d-strings, I like very much the mellow quality; I'm missing a bit the clarity;

So I conceived the idea of experimenting a bit with carbon strings: one could have a bit more tension without getting ridiculously thick d strings ...

If I find some solution convincing myself I'll let everybody know.

Best wishes
Robert

Hi there,

menawhile I changed the thomastik plain d strings to pyramid fluorocarbon guitar g-string (hard tension, around 0.865 mm gauge).
It's much better as to clarity and I really like the plain d - it kind of suits the oud very much ...

best wishes
Robert
