The Most Recent of Abu Alaa's Masterpieces

Here's the most recent oud made by Abu A'laa from Baqah Algharbiah, Palestine/Israel, dated March 16, 2010 . It was made especially for our friend Dr. Samy, an orthodontia specialist & an oud addict since ever. The bowl was made of American walnut & the soundboard is a master grade AAAA spruce brought up especially from Germany for this oud. Therefore I tend to believe it's German or Alpine spruce . The fingerboard inlay is made of camel bone, while the rosettes are carved from cowbone.
The oud sound is mellow & deep, yet powerful enough to let the neighbours listen. I couldn't record it at the spot, but used my cellphone to take some photos.
So here it is, the new masterpiece from Abu A'laa, which I rank higher than Yossi's & Bashir's ouds previously uploaded in separate posts.

Hurray Abu A'laa, you made it !!

I hope you like the work the man had invested.

Yours Truly
Alfaraby

Beautiful oud, looks very arabic like most abo alaa ouds. The woods are my favorite for an arabic oud, and they should be top quality. Design and craftsmanship are excellent. would love to hear a sound sample however, please try to upload one soon

Hi Alfaraby

That is a very nice looking oud, consistent high craftmanship throughout the whole instrument from the pics you sent. How is the sound??

Best wishes

Leon

Ya bibo, I've said it's Kamil Shajrawy's of Nazareth playing.
I usually don't upload my own, 'cause I'm already famous :))

Enjoy

Wow, beautiful instrument! Those little green details on the pickguard and the bridge are marvelous.

What wood are the pegs?

what wood is the fingerboard made of, and does the inlay being harder than the wood create problems, like having different timbre at different spots, and with different wear? I got inlays on a fretless bass neck once and swore never again.
