My Sukar ouds (a response to a question by DavidB.)!

And tell us about the different feelings ?
|
Well, 3 of those ouds are already on mike oud. Two are on sell & buy forum (in the same picture).
http://www.mikeouds.com/messageboard/viewthread.php?tid=10294
The third is on advise forum (problem with fixed bridge).
I'll try to post pictures of the other 3. But people get "mad" at me when I post pictures in the ONLY way I know :-)
(you'll understand when you read the link above
I couldn't either post a sound file
So I'll try to discribe:
1- My favorit Sukar: Custom made aug. 2009, 7-course, wallnut, rosewood finger board, fixed bridge, turkish size. Now with Aquila Light from
Jameel.
It gives a wonderful warm arabic sound. Loud. Very even (I don't even feel the difference between the d and g string! On all my other ouds, and all
ouds I have playd, there is always a "leep" in the sound when you go from d to g strings. But not on this one!)
2- Custom made January 2010. Same as above but with Daniel Mari. (pictured on problem with fixed bridge link).
the sound is much more crispy, louder, not very arabic really (sounds very much like Wissam joubran ouds).
P.s. I am changing the nut on this oud. It came with a RED wood nut that I don't know the name of. Beautiful color, bad I don't like the
functionality!
I am NOT blaming Mr.Sukar. He's become a friend, and makes me wonderful ouds in all the details. But he thought he was being very nice to me. And I
have to admit I was astnished by the beauty when I sow it. But that wood didn't really work for nut.
3-Custom made july 2009. also turkish size, 6-course floating bridge, wallnut back, eboney fingerboard (pictured on selling Sukar oud). You can also
hear it on the link.
Very even on the strings, very good for recording. But much more "dall" sound then the above two.
4- Custom made august 2008. same as the above, but rosewood back. Daniel Mari.
much brighter and louder then #3.
I have used this one on may conserts over the last two years.
P.s. I got Aquila light from Jameel, that I am planing to try on one of them and see what happens.
5- My newest (3 weeks old). also custum made.
This is an experiment: 58,5 cm but the bowl is as long as arabic size, and much narrower! I like the result!
The REASON for this is that I got a problem with my right shoulder, so that I cannot play arabic size oud no more.
And is also WHY I bought so many ouds over 2 years (I sold all my arabic size ones...
6- Well, all except my baby This is NOT custom model1 Sukar from 2003.
This one has MATURED to become a "pain in the shoulder"
In other words, I don't have the heart to sell it.
P.S. I have to say that the reason why model1 is so good is simply that when I bought it, I got to choose between 17 ouds And of course I
used many hours and pick the best
Hope you enjoyd reading

Lutgutt,
Your above post is frankly unreadable. Nothing clear: can you please post a pic link immediately near each oud you describe? Especially the red
walnut... Would be interesting to know what this wood looks like.
Thx

Hi Oud Freak!
Sorry I know my english is not that good. But I don't think it is that BAD!
3 of my ouds ARE ALREADY pictured on this forum as mentioned (see above)
I have problems with posting pictures (see above), so I will not try to post them again. Sorry.
Mathew, the Nahats ARE real and ALL original (eccept for the pegs).
I have a post of the oldest one here on this forum!
They have always been in my family, as far back as we know.
The wood might be dead, but the oud is alive.

Hi Luttgutt - how nice and wonderful to have the Nahats!
If you have photos etc posted in past in this forum, could you send a link to save time looking for them? I would loove to see your collection.
cheers, Matthew

Dear Luttgutt,
I was not talking about your english. You are not shakespeare, neither am I! However your old post is not clear and not easily readable because the
pics are not near each description. I have seen your attachments on the word files, but it is not easy to follow and memorize which oud is which.

Luttgutt you really need to learn how to post .JPG pictures. I have no idea why you end up with Microsoft Word files, but if you do, then you right
click on the image in the Word document and pick COPY from the menu. Then without closing Word you start up the PAINT program from the ALL PROGRAMS
menu. There you use EDIT->PASTE to paste the image and then you save that as JPG. As long as it's lesss that 1 MB in size and under 850 by 1500
pixels, you can click on Browse in the forum Reply, and navigate over to the JPG you saved, and it will show up in your PREVIEW POST. If the file is
too big, you SCALE it in the paint program say to 80% and see if THAT one is small enough, and if not do it again until it's OK. Try it!

Thanks Luttgut, it won't be helpful at first because your ouds are custom made. But if I have the opportunity to deal directly with Mr.Sukar I
certainly ask to you some advices...
It's a shame I've been able to hear only the 4 first notes on harmonic nodes on :
http://www.tiar.no/Musikk_files/01%20Arabisk%20pols.mp3
Don't know why, impossible to get the whole mp3 !?
I won't blame you about technology, I'm sure your knowledge and your talent are bigger than mine about music, so I willingly exchange what I know
about computers for what you know about ouds
Also I spend too much time in front of my screen and I reason myself to go back behind my oud which is our purpose. Let's play
