Music Score - Husyni Saz Semai, Tatyos Efendi
Hi friends
Has anyone got the music score for Huseyni Saz Semai by Kemani Tatyos Ekserciyan. I'd like to begin to learn it and have a few recordings but would
like the score to help guide me especially at the microtonal level and understand some of the interpretations I've heard, particularly the amazing Udi
Hrant version.
Also any suggestions of other versions people may know would be appreciated, I have Udi Hrant, Kudsi Erguner Ensemble, and Richard Hagopian

Also look at Huseyni compositions by Lavtaci Anton or Andon (Antonis Kyriazis), as well as other composers. You will probably like them too.
The two main microtonal notes in Huseyni makam are the second (Segah note) and the raised sixth (Evich note).

Hi Leon,
A great version that Richard does is on his 'Best of Armenian Folk Music' and Udi Hrant does it on his 'Udi Hrant' album (his version is very fast,
but amazing as always) and it appears on Kudsi Erguner's 'Works of Tatyos Efendi'. Great piece...

I love that version by Mr Bilezikian, his tone is amazing. Its really getting the core of the piece under my fingers then interpreting this my own
way, all these versions are very different.
Actually I was relistening to the Udi Hrant verion the other day and its not so much the speed he plays at (he's doesn't strike me as having a fast
style like for example Udi Bacanos), but the amount of articulation that goes into every single phrase is amazing, each like a complete piece in
itself. I also love his timing particularly in the first section after his intro.
I am quite slow to learn so lots and lots of practice to do

Also have a listen to Tanburi Cemil Bey's recording of this piece. Very nice phrasing!
He played kemence for the disc and is accompanied by an udi though I forget who. I'm pretty sure it's not Nevres Bey.
