Not oud...Fretless Guitar and EBow
Ok, so it's not an oud, and I'm not trying to make it sound like one, but at least it's fretless.
I know there are a few guitar playing oudies out there and I thought you may be interested in something a little different.

I really enjoyed that Sazi. You got some great ney and duduk feels there and I liked the piece. Is it one of your compositions?
No doubt you have been influenced by Erkan Oğur and other Turkish players who also use this ebow/fretless guitar combination.
Thanks for sharing
Warm regards,
Greg

Thanks Greg, I'm glad you liked it.
Yes, I'd been listening to a duduk album just before, and had to have a go. I've been really impressed by Cenk Erdogan, he does an amazing "ney" style
piece in a live concert, breathtaking!
I've only had the Ebow a week, so still a bit shaky, but I'm loving the different tonal colors, and "liquid" sound, and wondering why I've never got
one before now!.
I have to be strict with myself to put it down! Highly addictive!
Best wishes, S

I have toyed with the idea of getting an ebow. First I need to hunt around for a cheapie guitar that I can rip the frets from. My only two
steel-stringed guitars are a Tele and a Gretsch and I doubt they would appreciate being de-fretted

Noooo!!! Definitely not! Mine is a 1/2 size, (easier to manage) 2nd hand, (cheapy) though I've confused people with the incongruity of the sound and
the visual, and think it deserves it's own unique instrument, so, to the drawing board...
They should come with a "Warning! Highly Addictive" sticker

I like that piece a lot. I get some similar sounds with a battery of synths and a wind controller (WX7). I also have a bad duduk, and was about to get
a better one. Good way to cut back on smoking. And now this e-bow? Damnmn more stuff, Bob was right.
Hey, given the metal strings, have you tried the e-bow on the Saz?

I have now!
Well, it's different because no magnetic pick up, slower response, but it works, only really on the middle strings, and if I were to seriously do it I
would take one of the strings off as they buzz against the ebow a bit.
It would be better on electro bağlama, but having used one on fretless I don't want to go back to frets, I'm sure though, with a bit of work on
touch you could make the frets a bit more transparent, but I'm sticking with fretless.
...I have a good duduk... but I'm a bad player
