hi, how to buy and start to play OUD ?
Hi, I'm Simone, I'm italian, I play mandolin.
I wolud like to start to play oud. Your site is a good resource to get some informations on it.
I never played instruments with no frets so I don't know if I will capable to play oud.
I play written notes, there is much written music for arab or turkish oud?
what do you suggest me to buy & play arabic oud or turkish oud?

There are people that sell their oud because they don't use it or aren't capable to play it

I would not spend much money.
Here in Italy I've heard oud played for medieval music such as Cantigas of S. Maria written by Alfonso X El Sabio.

The first one is a cheap Turkish oud. I don't remember if we have any reports about this vendor, but in any case no two ouds are identical, they are
handmade. You probably would do better spending around 500 euros and getting something that's a known good. It's also very very hard buying an
instrument sight-unseen.
The first thing you need to do is do a lot of reading, starting here and on other internet sites, as there are different oud types, the big division
being between the larger Arabic ouds and the smaller (and tuned a note higher) Turkish. Listen to a lot of oud on YouTube. Please don't rush or you
will regret it.
Yes, there is written music, both Turkish and Arabic, as well as lute music, but the most interesting tradition is improvised Taqsim.

Hi Simone, welcome.
If you are not sure what kind of oud you would like you could check out my YouTube channel, there is a large selection of different styles there and
it may help you decide.
Since you are already a musician you would probably be better off with a mid-range instrument as a cheap one may soon show you it's limitations, or
even put you off. I first bought a student Turkish oud but after less than a year I needed to upgrade.
The easiest way to learn at home that I could suggest is buy the dvd from Oud.Proff, well worth the $.

Believe me you will 
I'm a former guitarrist, who now plays oud and fretless bass. I had the same fear as you and it was just a matter of a few weeks to get used to the
fretless fingerboard ... I would have expected it to need more time.
BTW ... listen to Fernand's recommendation to invest a bit more.
