Turkish (?) song ID...this is a long shot

HI all

Ok...this is a long shot...but I'm stuck!

Help!

I went to a Omar Faruk Tekbilek concert back in 2008 and he played a marvellous, bright piece of what I believe is Turkish music that rolled along and (I'm sure) is popular amongst dancers.

What is it....arrrgh!? I don't know the title but I can "lala" part of the refrain:

lul la lul-lul laa lala
lul la lul-lul laa lala
lul la lul-lul laa lul la
la-lal lul-lul-la la la

Does that vastly inadequate "lala" help at all? I have not been able to find a clip of it or anything so I'm mucho frustrated!

Any help or direction would be most appreciated.

Cheerio

Hi, I think you mean Allahu Allah, on the album One Truth (it is called "Sufi" on the album). The song is preceded by "Dağlar ile taşlar ile". Check the link below (sample no.9).

HI Franck

Thanks for the suggestion mate. That is a nice piece but, alas, that is not the piece I'm after.

Here, try going to Faruk's website directly:

http://omarfaruktekbilek.com/component/virtuemart/?page=shop.browse...

The link is to the music page, where you can listen to sample from his CDs.

Thinking more about your woefully unhelpful 'Lala' breakdown :wavey: :)) I am wondering if you mean this one:

'I Love You' from the One Truth CD (once you get past the kanun intro)

HI Sasha

Ah, thanks for your help. Still drawing a blank I fear... Not a problem, I'll put on my miners hard hat and keep digging!

Cheers for your efforts to help :applause:

Hi CQ,

Perhaps an equal long-short, but...

I've heard Faruk perform many times. I don't know for sure from your "la la" description, but I know he does often sing a Turkish secular dance song, "Kalenin Bedenleri," which is known around the Mediterrean, for example, as "Siko Horepse" in Greek.

In Turkish: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o60aBzSewl4&feature=related
In Greek: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eqmWNPV857E&feature=related
In Macedonian: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ne8wlH0-R_w

Even if it's not the one you seek, it's a fun one!

Peace out,
Udi John

CQ, why don't you just play, hum or whistle a few bars and record that on your computer. Upload it here as an mp3 and all should be revealed.
