Oud Rosset
Hi,
I have a cheap($200) turkish oud. the Rosset broke and fell out. but I noticed that the oud sound changed. It's sounds much better now. much like
a $600 oud. does any body have an explanation for this effect?
thanks

Alot of people believe that the rosette actually muffles the sound that is produced by the oud.But then again who really knows

This what I think happened:
Apperantly the rose was partialy lose since it evetually fell out on its own. So all that time before it fall, it was probably negatively affecting
the sound of the oud as follows:
1. Buzzing;
2. Absorbing some of the energy produced by the vibration of the top and not putting it back into the top.
3. The rose may have been made too heavy.
4. The rose didn't have enough gaps in it to permit enough air volume to pass through it.
