Source of a Sha3bi song

I was wondering whether the song Yatir El Hamam (Bath Fly?) sung by Marcel
Khalife was written by him or was it a Sha3bi song from Morocco.
My teacher asked me to search for a song by that name but I am
not sure whether this was the song he was looking for.

I hope for some clarifications.

Thanks.

Mood: beginner's frustration ...

My understanding is that this is a poem by Hallaj, the sufi master.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mansur_Al-Hallaj

The poem itself is a "divine love" poem, but - of course - one that is highly personal for subjective (personal) interpretation.

Hope this helps.

Hamid.

Thanks, Hamid. Marcel's playing and singing of the poem is very beautiful and soothing.
Unfortunately, it wasn't the one my teacher has been looking for, neither was the song
"Tir El Hammam" by Amina Fakhet (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_deua7tOVY)

I guess it's a really old Sha3bi song which he'd heard back when he was a child in Morocco,
some 50 years ago, and there are no recordings of it online, or perhaps I don't know where to look.

I appreciate your help. :)

Perhaps your teacher is referring to Tayer a Tayer ya Hamamah?
(fly, fly o pigeon....)

Here sung by Sabah Fakhri:

Thanks, Ali. It is a song I'm familiar with though was also not the one.
My teacher said the first line is "Ya Tir L'7amam L'ghali" (gh is Ghain, like our unstressed Gimel in Hebrew;
i don't know the way to write it in Latin letters) and he sang it to me as well, I just can't find it.

I did manage to find another old Moroccan Sh3bi song he wanted, "Anna Ma Bidi Man3mal"
by Ahmed Jabrane (http://www.zdoooh.com/Artiste,Ahmed-Jabrane,422.html).

I guess some old songs are left only in the minds of mere few with their original recordings lost forever.

I am pretty sure we can find it. I will be in Morocco next week and ask around. "Ya Tir L'7amam L'ghali" means "oh precious pigeon bird" (exact word order: oh bird (the)pigeon (the)precious).

I am familiar with the ghain sound as I am Moroccan and Arabic is my mother tongue :)

Cheers!
