Nice Oud for Sale in Lebanon (sound clip)

***Edited on Sat 29 OCT 2011 11:21 pm***
Hi everybody,
I am getting separated from my old Oud when i was a student. I actually bought a new syrian Oud that match me better.

- Made by Wadi3 el-Ghawi (wadi chahrour/beirut/lebanon).
- year: 1998

i paid it 600USD when i started Oud on 1998. I am waiting for the forum evaluation of the Oud to fix a fair price. Two sound clips are available for you to judge.
i don't know exactly what types of wood is used on this oud. I believe that its back is made of Walnut. I don't know about the harmonic table wood type.
I has a beautiful warm sound. You can come to home and try it too!

Shipping is now to be considered.

Hi courgette, and welcome to the forum :wavey:
Nice looking oud.

Its a long way to Lebanon from the UK, let us know if you change your mind and would ship the oud to another country. You can send me a U2U.
Please, what is the string length, and how is the action? Low?
A sound clip would be nice.
Hope you enjoy the forum !!!!

Best Wishes, Charlie

Hi!

If your oud plays as well as it looks, then I would think it is worth more then 300$...

What do you think guys??

But of course a sound file would help a lot.

The wood might be dead, but the oud is alive.

Hi guys! and thanks for your honest replies..yes it has a beautiful sound on my opinion.
i will do a small sound clip very soon and post it here so you can judge on its value.
Also, I will consider sending it if it will make somebody happy but i am afraid of the risky shipment since i don"t want the oud to arrive broken, maybe recommandations about how to send such an instrument would be appreciated, to minimise risks..

so sound file coming very soon:)

I made a clip on Lissa Faker, it is cut because the file is limited to 1MB. Now you can listen and judge :)

The patch near the rosette is to attach special microphone to the oud :D

Thanks Courgette, sweet sound but a little unclear which I assume is the recording, not your playing, why not try another, a simple taqsim will do. Nice playing and can hear some quality in the oud.

I made a Takssim on Rast Do, it is cut and a little bit reduced in quality to fit the 1MB limited size. I am now waiting for your opinions guys

Are you still selling this oud? I have a friend going to Lebanon, he could bring it back here.

'action' means the hieght of the strings above the finger board, this is one the main features of 'playability' which means how comfortable it is to play the oud.

The action is normally measured as the string clearance above the fingerboard at the neck/body junction. It is typically 2-5 mm, 2 being quite low, and 5 being, well, pretty bloody high.

The string length is measured from the inner edge of the nut to the inner edge of the bridge. 640 mm seems maybe a bit long?
