emergency Arabic lyrics help!!
Hi everyone, I am giving a performance on Jan. 26th of some old Arabic music (muwashshahat, qudud, samai, etc.) and I really need some help with basic
translations of some really challenging Arabic lyrics. I realize this is a lot to ask, but even the most basic synopsis would be REALLY helpful. Alf
shukran, ana aarif huna wajib katheeran!
here's the first one:
قاتلي بغنج الكحل
شاغلي به عن شغلي
قام مائسا كالأسل
ينثني بعطف ثمل
خصره نحيل أبدا
يشتكي ارتجاج الكفل
and here's the second:
طرز الريحان حلة الورد
و اشتكت الوان روضة الخد
زادني اشجان صحت من وجدي
ليس لي كتمان و الهوى عدري
يا عزولي دعني فالهوى
جنني
حب من اهواه مفرد الحسن
here's the third:
يا ذا القـوام
الســـمهـري حاوي الرضاب
السكري
عن ثغرك الزاهي اللـمى
يروى صحـاح الجوهـري
كـم ذا التـجـافـي و
البـعـاد أحرمـت
أجـفـاني الرقـاد
* الأنــور و ارعى الوداد
يــــا ذا الجـبـيـن بادر
و جود
and the last one:
يا غصـن نقا مكللا بالذهب ***
أفديك من الردى بأمي وأبي
إن كنتُ أسأت في هواكم
أدبي *** العصمة لا تكـون إلا
لنبي
الغصن إذا رآك مقبل سجدا ***
والعين إذا رأتك تخشى
الرمدا

Hi Amos !
This is really a very hard stuff, but here's my first roughly ill-English shot for the first verses :
He's killing me with his flirting eye-shadow
Distracting me from my work
He stood up walking proudly like an arrow
Swaying like a drunk
His waist is ever slim
While his buttocks shake !!
If this is what you really needed, I'll give the others a try, but this shall take some time . It's not easy at all !
Do you understand other languages ?
