I don't know about Missouri or Ohio, but if you're here over the summer you should strongly consider attending Simon Shaheen's intensive Arabic Music Retreat in Massachusetts.

August 11-18, 2012 at Mount Holyoke College, South Hadley, MA

The nearest Airport is Bradley Airport (Hartford/Springfield), but Boston isn't too bad.
