El Gawharet el Fan, reviews

Greetings, First off all praise to Mike for taking on the labour of love running a website like this requires.
I am currently trying to find an Oud in the 400 to 500 dollar catagory for my own enjoyment. I realize that presents a challange in its self. about 7 years ago I purchased an arabic style Oud from Gawharet sold by the Nileshop. I was very happy with the instrument and it required only restringing and work on the nut slots to be very playable.
I recently decided to revisit the Oud and found that arabinstruments.com was selling arabic and turkish Oud.
The issue:
I would like input on is Gawharets customer or lack of service. I cannot get assurances that the oud I order will be the one I recieve. NO ONE could tell me what the soundboards are made of. I have never gotten an email that anyone had signed so that I knew who I was talking to. This lack of attention to a potential and serious buyer seems fishy to me.
If I decide to buy from Gawharet would a turkish Oud be a better gamble 5 As I write this its very doubtful I'll patronize Gawharet if that is the case I would appreciate recomendations for turkish ouds from other suppliers.
I don't normally like to name a business that seems to have a poor customer service approach but I'm slightly frusterated after sending 10 emails on the same question.
Thanks for reading,
Latif
