They are not to my ear (again, what is Arabian?). It's an Iraqi oud playing, stringing & tuning, conducted by Nasir Shamma. The "problem"
therefore is not the oud, but the tuning and this school of playing, so one can't judge. To me the oud should have lower tuning : Bb F C G Eb Bb in
order to hear it's real sound, but this is another issue discussed in a separate thread.
For my ear, this is what I call The Arabian Oud Sound (& playing of course of Simon Shaheen), though "regularly tuned":

Enjoy it with the links that it would lead to

Thank you my friend. I have known Simon Shaheen since 1993. I fixed one of his Nahhat oud's high action. He said "Nahhat is in the same class with
Stradivarius in oud construction". I commemorate all the old masters who left many wonderful ouds behind, with a deep respect; and appreciate every
body who likes their instruments and the sound of them.
You are true. I made that oud for Faisal Al Saari on special order for Iraqi tuning.
Will you be kind enough to listen to these ones please?

Yes, I've listened to all of them on the first shot. I liked Ahmad Alkhatib most & not because he's my native & old friend.
Here I liked it even more:

Bravo ! Yet it's not Simon's Nahat oud. Well, Nahat is Nahat, like Manol is Manol & we can't just stick to these sounds & reject any others.
But once you produce such a sound from an oud, pls. put it aside till I drop in. This might take a couple of ... hours

Thank you my friend for showing interest to those videos and sparing some time to evaluate the sound of the ouds there and writing here. But isn't it
a bit unfair to compare a few years old child's voice to a professional singer's who has been singing at least for half a century
Sure Nahhat is Nahhat and Manol is Manol ... I lean in reverence in front of their saintly remembrance!
But my unique ambition is to raise the oud sound to a level that has never been reached. My adventure is a quest for the Divine
Sound of THE OUD in THE REALM OF IDEAS.
With my deepest respect to you and all Mike's Oud Forums...
