George Michel a beautiful example of a fine artiste

I found this after extensive research into this fine musician, I consider this BY FAR his best work:

Love the syncopatin at the end. And the sense of affluence in the video!

Yes, Fernand the syncopation at the end is very interesting. However i have to say if you want to talk about the video you should really open your own thread titled "George Michel: Video of affluence in a dying age"

As Khalid pointed out very astutely this is the rarest of Maqams the Maqam Ayteez, most of the recordings of this maqam are to be found on the albums of the ayteez exponent Joe King. Well worth a look if you are interested in this most beautiful and mysterious of Maqams.

Here are some more examples:

Here is a Persian version of the same maqam, from the folk tradition of Khorasan of the christian minority;

and here a more modern interpretation:

George Michael = Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou, son of Greek Cypriot father and Jewish, by maternal line...hand the man a bouzouki and make him sing in Ladino!

To tell you the truth, when I learned that he had actually written and produced his material, I decided George was OK by me.

That was the whole point, it is a joke on the similarity of the names between two absolutely contrasting artists. while one george is Michel the other is Michael, the single letter being of great importance in a google search:))

Just to add that I have no problem the artists, although not particularly being a fan of either of them, this was just a good opportunity for a joke.

A Joke? A joke? I thought you were just getting warmed up, and about to present some math and measurements, medieval musings and anecdotes!
