The Ultimate Oud Buyers' Guide
Hi everybody,
I just want to pass around this resource I have compiled. I have called it the Ultimate Oud Buyers' Guide. It is meant to familiarize people who are
new to the Oud with types of Ouds, and some Oud builders. This is to make the initial research that goes into buying an Oud easier for them. It is by
no means comprehensive, but at least an introduction.
I would like to thank you all for your help in creating this guide because it is from this forum that much of the information contained in the guide
has emerged.
I know I have left out many important things, and sadly not all of the talented Oud builders could be mentioned. But I must remind you that this is
for a fresh audience whose only gateway to the world of the Oud through the great WWW.

Please read it, comment and disseminate.
If there are any serious errors please bring them to my attention.
best regards,
Navid

Nice and concise Compilation, good work.
One correction: Fadi Matta is a Lebanese and not a Syrian Oud maker. He is located in the City of Jounieh near Beirut.

Hi ALAMI!
Hope everything is well with you and your ouds..
Last time I visited Fadi Matta, he was in Zou'k.. did he move lately?
Best Regards
The wood might be dead, but the oud is alive.

Hi Lutgut, You're right, he is still in Zouk, I wrote Jounieh because it is easier to find on a map and it is just 1 KM from Zouk

I also enjoyed looking through your site - you might want to give Tasos Theodorakis a mention - he's in Thessaloniki in Greece and is also an 'expert'
on Manol. I have one of his ouds and it is a very nice instrument, he's the real deal. You can find him here ... http://www.theodorakis.name/
Cheers

... also Kamil Mowais from Nazereth - I've been lucky to try a couple of these out that belong to others and they have been truly inspiring - I
particularly covet one belonging to Dave H in Oxford ) fantastic instruments.

Very useful Guide, helps not to be lost
I add The luthier Wissam Joubran that is originally palestinian from Nazareth, lives in France.
I must sell all my instruments in order to buy one made by him.
unbelievable Sound!
